Day started off raining even though all in all weather channels, sunshine was guaranteed... (just wait until the final pictures at the end here)
-
first trail from the ferry station, heading north... I all of the sudden noticed that there were 99% men on this island.
-
little pathways to houses
-
windy!! no windsurfer in sight .. well, it was a little chilly
-
great pattern created by wind and the red touch of the sand.
-
still heading north along the east side (the island is a lot of the time only 400 meters wide!)
-
but then again the beauty of the plants are just amazing
-
heavy-moss covered ground
-
crossing over to the west side, did not leave a good impression first...
-
surprise!??!
-
while hiking a little more, thick heavy clouds are approaching....
-
...so we found some trees that helped us from getting soaked wet by found out later that this is also a home to ticks.
-
and some fine-moos covered ground
-
some impressions of teh area
-
but what are ticks compare to this creature... it was moving really slowly but steady on the beach....
-
some beach scenery north of the ferry station
-
..and yes it was quite big; it is a crap(this one dead already)!!! but just wait for the big surprise....
-
-
btw. the houses are build of wood and with lots of details added but kind of simple (back to nature)
-
guess what this is?!?!?!? ....
-
...check out the size....
would NEVER HAVE GUESSED THAT THIS IS ONE VERTEBRA of a whale!! NOTE: as learned afterwards, never touch, collect, pull etc anything like that, it is under the law of protection regulation...
-
you think all that was not "special" yet? Then just check this picture: yes these are ducks in the OCEAN (I have only seen ducks in fresh water so far..)!!
-
green and red contrast in one plant
-
beautiful tree blossom
-
luckily when we got to the ferry station some hope for sunshine came up...
-
-
was a great and amazing day!
-
From that point on, nothing could surprise us anymore.. not even a PINK-sandy beach...
-
... or a whole FOX family very close to us!!
-
-
a hike into the "sunken forest" where some trees are over 200-300 years old!
-
and thanks for the sunshine and light contrast again, the color was just intense
-
many trees were just coming out of the winter phase
-
Last glimpse back to the forest far away and time to head back...
-
and an impression of the environement on the way to the "sunken forest", south of the ferry station.
-
-
Big deer almost let us touch them just seemed another "normal" thing compared to what we have all seen that day!
